You’re invited to spend summer nights watching your favourite artists in the lush outdoor surrounds of Melbourne Zoo.
Get a group together for the show, and head along early to explore the Zoo in the late afternoon, when you and other Twilights ticketholders will be our only visitors.
Here is everything you need to know and do to make your night out at Zoo Twilights the best ever.
Zoo Twilights only works when we show respect for each other, the animals and the Zoo. More than anything else, we need you to treat this environment with love and care.
Gates open at 5.30pm, giving you heaps of time to visit the animals before the show. Supports acts come on stage at 7pm, before the headliner at around 8pm. Everyone will make their way out of the Zoo when the show wraps up at around 9.30pm.
You’re welcome to make a day of it and visit the Zoo before 5.30pm. To do this, you’ll need to purchase a Melbourne Zoo General Admission ticket at the gate, and exit at 5pm when the Zoo closes. You can then line up and re-enter from 5.30pm with your Zoo Twilights ticket.
Please note: you can set your picnic gear up on the Twilights lawn from 5.30pm only.
Public transport is your best bet, logistically and environmentally! The Upfield train line stops at Royal Park station, which is right outside the Zoo’s gates. The 58 tram and 505 bus will also drop you on our doorstep.
Parking is free after 5pm if you do choose to drive.
We’re a fully licensed venue. There are plenty of beverage options on offer at the Taste of Twilights pop-up, but you’re not permitted to BYO alcohol. If you’re packing a picnic, please allow time for your eskys and bags to be checked by security on your way into the Zoo.
Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside Melbourne Zoo. It’s home to amazing animals, after all! Pass outs are available at the gates if you do want to duck out for a smoke. Remember to toss your butts in the bins provided.
Help us keep the Zoo tidy for visitors and animals alike by chucking your rubbish in the different bins for food waste, recycling and general waste. We collect and sort most of your rubbish, then mix it with some elephant poo to make the compost that feeds the lush gardens around the zoo. Please use the right bins for all your rubbish.
Before saying goodnight, check you’ve got all the belongings and buddies you brought with you. It can get pretty busy in the carpark after a show, so please be patient and mindful of traffic as you make your way home.
Rain or shine, the show will go on! Check the forecast before you head to the Zoo and pack warm clothes and raincoats if you need them. It’s summer, so hats and sunscreen are essential no matter the weather. Leave your umbrellas at home though – they are on the list of prohibited items you can read in full in our Terms and Conditions for entry.
In the unlikely event of an emergency, you may be evacuated for your safety. Please listen to Zoo staff, who will direct you to safety in an emergency situation.
