Public transport is the best way to get to the Zoo. Here are all the different options:
The Upfield train line stops at Royal Park station, which is right outside the Rail Gate entrance to the Zoo.
Jump on the 58 tram, which runs from William St in the CBD. You can access the tram stop from either the Main or Rail gate.
Bus route 505 – which travels between Moonee Ponds and Melbourne University – stops outside the Zoo’s Main Gate.
Head to ptv.vic.gov.au for tram, train and bus maps and timetables, or use their Journey Planner to plot your trip.
Melbourne Zoo is located within Royal Park, a short drive from the CBD. Parking is free after 5pm if you choose to drive.
